The highly anticipated Instagram battle between Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Teddy Riley, King of New Jack City, had major sound and technical difficulties.
Over 400k Instagram fans tuned in Saturday night to watch the live stream of the two legends go head to head with their multi-hits and take their fans down memory lane. Unfortunately for Riley, who had mics, sound equipment and his hypeman by his side, he had technical issues of the music echoing.
Fans began to speak their frustration and let down of the battle. Most notably was R&B songstress Toni Braxton, she tweeted “Are we really starting over? I’m sorry I gotta make dinner this is like watching old folks use Jitterbug phones”
The battle between the two legends was originally scheduled to go down April 12, 2020, when they accepted the versus challenge that was brought on by producer Timbaland and Swizz Beatz to go catalog for catalog. News broke Edmonds and his family was diagnosed with the Coronavirus. He’s since been in recovery and the showdown could go on.
@Cthagod, showing love to Riley amidst the jokes, he tweeted, “Also kids we all know the digital era rules and these jokes shall fly but please don’t let over production and audio issues make you think Teddy Riley is a joke. One of the greatest architects of music to ever touch this planet......now back to the memes......”
Its been announced according to Riley’s Instagram, the battle will try once again on Monday April 20th at 8 p.m. ET.
