Focusing on content by amazing black talent, BET Studios is described in a recent press release as an unprecedented studio venture that offers equity ownership for Black content creators.
In lamen terms, BET Studios will give black creatives a place to produce for various media outlets and third-party platforms.
Kenya Barris, Rashida Jones and SWAT co-creator Aaron Rahsaan Thomas will be principal partners in BET Studios. Aisha Summers Burke, who spent 13 years at Warner Brothers will take on the role of Executive Vice-President and General Manager.
“BET Studios is not only an investment in Black storytelling, it is also an investment in the culture," said Barris.
